Support "Vamos a Bailar?"
I am deeply honored to share that I have been selected for the 2026 Atlas Lab Cohort at the Atlas Performing Arts Center. This transformative residency will support the creation of a full evening-length production of Vamos a bailar?, premiering in June 2026 in the Lang Theatre.
As part of this residency, I will also host a free community dance event, including an open-level class and informal showing—creating additional access points for audiences to gather, move, and connect at no cost. In addition, the work will provide paid performance opportunities for 15–20 dancers from our local community.
Vamos a bailar? is a dance work that investigates nightlife as a site of community, resilience, and collective release. Translating to “Shall we dance?”, the title invites audiences into a shared space where movement becomes both celebration and refuge. In the midst of ongoing social and administrative shifts that continue to affect many of our communities, this work seeks to uplift, energize, and reaffirm the power of coming together. Dance has long served as a home—a place where we can gather, breathe, and be held—and Vamos a bailar? aims to embody that sense of belonging with both joy and narrative depth.
Atlas generously provides a $1,500 artist stipend and rehearsal space which allows this production to come to life. However, this does not cover the costs of paying dancers and performers equitably.
We are seeking help from the community and are looking to raise $5,000 additional funding to directly support dancers, dramaturgical support, as well as essential production expenses. Any contributions are appreciated and essential to ensure dancers are paid.
