Victoria Davis
Victoria Davis is an Italian artist who began dancing ballet early on in life, she also trained in rhythmic gymnastics, modern, contemporary and dance theater. She went to college for literature, but after college was inspired by the new Northern European contemporary styles and started dedicating her life to dance. She danced in Udine, Rome, Venice, Vicenza, and Paris. She’s since explored contact improvisation, honest movement, and performance art - an interdisciplinary form of art which combines performing and visual arts. For some time in Venice, Rome and her hometown Vicenza she explored dance theater with Marigia Maggiopinto who was in Pina Bausch's original company of Tanztheater Wuppertal. Viky went to study performing arts in Paris between 2017 and 2018, where she continued studying performance art, as it was becoming an established form of art in Europe. She was inspired by artists such as Marina Abramovic and Alejandro Jodorowski which helped her dive into the human psyche, sociology, the subconscious, and the esoteric. Her personal works are mainly inspired by either the mind or the subconscious and the occult. Before moving to America, Viky was in Betty Tezza Danza's contemporary dance company based in Vicenza. There, she learned about various contemporary techniques and was the lead dancer at the opening of the Biennale of Venice in 2019. Since then, Viky's explored contemporary and modern dance in DC. She mostly has worked with Angel Ramirez in various of his works as a dancer since 2023. She presented her own piece at NACHMO in 2024, entitled "My Sorrow", which was selected for the full evening show at Atlas Performing Arts Center. Viky currently dances for Gindance.
